Our Work

A selection of technology problems we have solved for small businesses across Edmonton.

The Problem

The server was stuck in an infinite boot loop and could not load Windows or boot from external media. The clinic was fully locked out of Cornerstone, their veterinary practice management software, meaning no access to patient records, appointments, or medical histories. They had no backups in place.

Our Solution

We systematically diagnosed the failure, ruling out software and OS corruption before identifying a failing secondary drive that was interfering with the boot process. The OS and Cornerstone database on the primary drive were fully intact. Removing the faulty drive restored the server to full operation. Automated backups to the client's existing external drive were then configured and scheduled to run going forward.

The Outcome

The clinic was fully operational the same day. Patient records, Cornerstone, and all workstations were restored without any data loss. A proper automated backup solution is now in place, protecting the clinic from a scenario that could have resulted in permanent and total loss of their patient data.

The Problem

The client's server was running on aging hardware showing early signs of failure. The server held years of client files, software, and business data. A hardware failure would have meant significant data loss and days of downtime during their busiest period of the year.

Our Solution

We planned the migration around the client's schedule to minimise disruption, performed a complete transfer of the server to new hardware, verified everything was intact, and had all services back online and running before the end of the day.

The Outcome

The server came back online with all data intact, all software running, and noticeably better performance. The client avoided what could have been a catastrophic hardware failure and has been running without issues since.

The Problem

The client was running their business on a poorly configured network with no centralised file storage and no proper backup system. Files were scattered across individual computers, there was no shared access, and a single hardware failure would have meant permanent data loss.

Our Solution

We set up a properly configured network, installed and configured a file server for centralised storage, set up a dedicated backup device for local backups, and configured automated backups running on a schedule. All systems were tested and documented before handoff.

The Outcome

The client now has a reliable network, centralised file access for all staff, and a backup system that runs automatically without any manual effort. Their business data is protected at multiple levels and recoverable in the event of any hardware failure.

The Problem

The client managed hundreds of tax files in their accounting software. Getting client information into a usable format for reporting and tracking meant manually opening each file and copying data by hand. As their client base grew, this became an increasingly costly drain on staff time.

Our Solution

We built a custom application that reads directly from their tax software files, extracts the client information they need, and writes it straight into a connected Google Sheet. The tool runs in seconds and handles variations in file structure automatically.

The Outcome

What previously took hours of manual work each week now runs in seconds at the push of a button. The client has a live, always-current sheet with their full client roster pulled directly from their tax software with no manual effort.

The Problem

The clinic had years of patient X-ray files stored with no meaningful organisation. Files were numbered sequentially with no patient information in the name, making it nearly impossible to locate a specific patient's imaging without opening files one by one. The archive had grown to thousands of files.

Our Solution

We built a tool that reads the patient information embedded within each imaging file and uses it to automatically sort and rename everything. Files are organised by date and patient name, creating a consistent structure across the entire archive without any manual work.

The Outcome

Thousands of files reorganised in minutes. The clinic now has a clean, consistent archive that any staff member can search through directly. What was previously an unusable pile of files is now a properly structured medical record.

The Problem

The clinic used a TV in their consultation room for two purposes: a professional slideshow during normal hours, and displaying patient files and imaging during appointments. Switching between modes required navigating through display settings each time, which was impractical during a busy consultation with a client present.

Our Solution

We set up a dedicated button panel at the desk. One button switches to slideshow mode, another mirrors the workstation for patient files. The whole system works reliably across different display states and requires no technical knowledge to operate.

The Outcome

Staff can switch between modes instantly without touching any settings or menus. The transition is immediate and the solution has required no maintenance or adjustments since it was installed.
